Lexi Crotty
Youth Instructor
Lexi moved to Utah in 2020 to attend Westminster University, a decision heavily influenced by the Environmental Science program and the mountain ranges so close by. Much of her college experience involved being outdoors for class while learning about the environment that surrounds us. She discovered her passion for outdoor education near the end of college and jumped on the opportunity to spend 3 months in the backcountry, participating in various outdoor activities all while developing leadership, facilitation, and risk management skills. Having firsthand experience with how much more students learn outside of a classroom, she wants to provide that opportunity for others as well.
She believes that childhood experiences in nature allow for a deeper connection and a love for the outdoors that will carry throughout our entire lives. Passionate about instilling a love for the outdoors in future generations, Lexi has worked with youth as a ski coach and outdoor educator since moving to Utah. Growing up through the endless learning opportunities nature has to offer, these experiences have shaped her into the person she is today. She wants to inspire her students to connect with both themselves and nature through curiosity and adventure!
When not teaching at Down to Earth, you can find Lexi skiing in the Wasatch, biking in Park City, or on the hunt for unique second-hand pieces from local thrift stores!
Lexi was raised in the rolling hills outside of Buffalo, New York, where she spent her winters skiing with her family at a small local ski area and her summers on Lake Erie. Her fondest childhood memories all have one thing in common: they were never confined to just 4 walls. Between hours spent exploring the wooded creeks that ran through her backyard and refusing to come inside after a day of skiing with friends in the middle of a typical frigid Buffalo winter, she fell in love with what nature has to offer.
