Rochelle Erskine

Youth Instructor

Born and raised in King and San Juan counties, Washington, Rochelle was homeschooled with her two older brothers until the 5th grade. She feels this background played a big role in shaping how she interacts with inquisitiveness, nature, and all ages of the community around her. Her public schooling persisted through community college and led to two years of international travel and volunteer work around the northern hemisphere.

Largely, this time solidified how Rochelle observes and navigates her time living in this big wide world - first hand experience with a vast array of communication and learning styles, habits, family systems, cultures, food, geography, language, and ways to go about living expanded her global understanding and ultimately, changed her life.

Today, Rochelle spends the majority of her time working and playing in the great outdoors. With eight winters working as a snow sports instructor in the Cascades and the Wasatch, she has held a variety of jobs in between that have equipped her with the ability to work meaningfully with kids, adolescents, and adults in outdoor spaces. She possess an attuned eye and skill for encouraging thought and supporting individual and unique learning processes, growth, and personal breakthroughs.

Rochelle believes connectedness with the natural world brings wisdom, calmness of spirit, and great understanding. An understanding that reaches beyond the walls of any classroom, beyond often what our own minds are capable of imagining. Through the embodiment of Ms Frizzle, Rochelle hopes to guide students of Down to Earth toward reaching that beyond.

"It's time to take chances, make mistakes and get messy!" - Ms Frizzle
